In 2009, three friends from Mauritius, all passionates of wildlife, bush adventure and African safaris, decided to take their passion further and embark on their ultimate dream.

” We decided to partner up and look out for a tranquil piece of land where we could create an exclusive African holiday retreat.”

‘We found our dream spot tucked away in the Waterberg area of Limpopo province.’

The Waterberg is the first region in the northern part of South Africa to be named as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.

“It is here, on the outskirts of Vaalwater easily accessible from OR Tambo international airport approximately 3hrs drive, that we created something EXCLUSIVE – ZANGARNA GAME LODGE.

It is Malaria free, peaceful and secluded with the feel of exclusivity and most of all the feeling of being home away from home without the constraints of time table or scheduled activities. The idea behind our ultimate dream is to have our guests experience and capture the authenticity of the African bush.”

The lodge and its chalets were designed by two of the friends who are well known Resort hotels architects based in Mauritius.

“We incorporated the purest African style and finishings using local and natural materials such as sand, rocks, grass and timbers to blend the features into the fauna and flora that surrounds the property. The Main lodge and its six chalets were designed so that no matter where you are, on your private terrace or sitting on the main deck, one can only describe the view of the main waterhole where animals come down for a cool drink of water, as Grandiose.”
